Classroom Construction

As part of a long-term architectural and social development initiative led by Architects Without Borders Spain in the village of Joal-Fadiouth (Senegal), the final phase of the project involved the construction of a classroom using Compressed Earth Blocks (BTC). The work included the on-site fabrication of BTCs and the application of sustainable construction strategies tailored to the local climate. Passive ventilation, thermal massing, and breathable building techniques were implemented to ensure comfort and durability. The project was developed in close collaboration with the local community, continuing an extended process of participatory design and environmental requalification.
