Vocal Photosynthesis
was selected for the fifth edition of Premio Sparti, an international contemporary art prize and exhibition held in Ascoli Piceno. Curated by Alex Urso and Caterina Angelucci, the 2026 edition, Dove finisce la città, brought together over twenty artists to investigate marginality not only as a geographical condition, but also as a poetic and methodological position. As one of five under-35 artists selected for Essere altro, Boarino contributed to a section that shifted the exhibition’s enquiry from geographical margins towards questions of identity, belonging and alternative positions within contemporary artistic practice.

Presented through Vocal Photosynthesis – Pneuma (2026), two metaphotographic studies and a video and sound installation, the art project approached the margin as a perceptual and disciplinary threshold: a space between art, sound, physical phenomena and embodied experience. Developed through experimental cameraless processes in the darkroom, Vocal Photosynthesis investigates the possibility for an invisible and ephemeral phenomenon — the human voice — to leave a physical trace. Within Essere altro, the work located marginality at the threshold of perception itself, drawing attention to phenomena that continually traverse bodies and environments while ordinarily remaining beyond the visible.
