Roofing construction - Multifunctional Room
As part of the Open City Research Platform, a summer chantier jointly organised by the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio and EPFL Lausanne took place at Ciudad Abierta in Valparaíso, Chile. The workshop focused on the design and construction of a new roof for an existing multipurpose structure intended to host conferences, performances and public gatherings. Developed and built collectively on site, the intervention consisted of a lightweight timber structure and covering, exploring construction through direct experimentation with material, assembly and building techniques.
