Panel: Designing Atmospheres - The Power of Sound

Sofia Boarino was invited by L-Acoustics to speak at the Global Design Forum, the thought-leadership programme of London Design Festival, hosted at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. As part of the programme’s “Designing Atmospheres” strand, she joined the panel “The Power of Sound: Shaping Perception, Space, and Experience”, moderated by Grace Xu, Architecture Engagement Global Lead at L-Acoustics, alongside composer Hollie Buhagiar, Stephen Dobbie and Kevin Pollard. The conversation explored sound as a fundamental dimension of spatial design and its capacity to shape perception, embodied experience and our relationship with the built environment. The intervention brought together architecture, sound art and research into resonance, psychoacoustics, neuroarchitecture and neuroaesthetics, examining sound as a physical phenomenon that continuously interacts with bodies, materials and space.
