Teaching collaborator for the Architectures of Air Workshop
Architectures of Air
Organised by MADWORKSHOP Foundation in collaboration with Riccardo Blumer
The outcome of a competition held among students of the Atelier Blumer at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, several students had the opportunity to bring their projects to life through the project Madworkshop Abroad. This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Sofia Boarino, Riccardo Blumer, and the Madworkshop Foundation. The theme of the edition, ‘Architectures of Air,’ challenged students to creatively apply the research and notions on pneumatic structures acquired from the academic semester. The students received guidance in both designing and realizing their architectural installations, and an exhibition was organized to showcase and share their work with the public. These pneumatic structures, designed specifically for the deconsecrated Church of San Giovanni di Casciago, delve into architectural concepts of temporariness, lightness, and movement through the application of precise structural techniques and physical laws.
