Vocal Photosynthesis - Artwork Series
Vocal Photosynthesis consists of a series of sound prints made with music and singing voice — no brush, no pigments, only sound.
Shaped by an engagement with physics and invisible forces, the work emerges from singing into darkness, allowing voice to sediment into visual fossils of sonic life, each accompanied by its own melody. The resulting images are vivid, abstract and biological sound-prints, where the voice becomes the brush and light becomes colour. Acting as a medium among interacting forces, the performative process becomes a form of embodied choreography, capturing the architecture of a tone, the intensity of a gesture, and the relational dynamics between body, matter and environment. Smaller works encapsulate sonic phrases like poetic fragments, while large-scale pieces embody entire vocal compositions unfolding over time. Drawing on the psychophysics of perception and the history of vitalism, the work reflects on the body as transmitter, receiver and co-producer within a system of entangled physical processes
Each work is a unique, non-reproducible piece. They span a range of dimensions, from intimate formats to large-scale pieces reaching approximately 260 cm in height. A curated catalogue of selected works is available upon request for exhibitions and acquisitions. Contact: sofiaboarino@gmail.com
