Vocal Photosynthesis is a series of metaphotographic works created through sound and voice, which imprint themselves onto photographic paper to generate abstract, organic compositions: here, sound is the brush and light is the colour.
The work unfolds through a process of mediation between physical forces orchestrated by singing in the dark, producing meditative movements and spontaneous choreographies that give rise to a specific performative act. Each piece originates from a precise sonic action that captures the memory of a gesture, the architecture of a tone, and the emotional intensity of a melody, resulting in images that are unique and non-reproducible. Installed in space, the works form a perceptual field in which image and sound are inseparable, inviting an embodied mode of perception based on presence, movement and resonance. Sound and light are physical forces that exert a profound influence on the body, the mind, and the universe as we perceive it. In this work, these forces are explored with the intention of making the invisible visible through colour, form and camera-less experimental processes developed in the darkroom.
With references to psychophysics and the history of vitalism, Vocal Photosynthesis reflects on the role of the body as both receiver and transmitter within a system of entangled forces that connect the body to the world. Situating the viewer within a field of invisible relations between human and non-human systems, the project engages with contemporary questions of embodiment, ecological interconnection and the limits of representation, proposing the works as material traces of forces that shape perception. | Contact for full catalogue |
